Winter Sports Awards Night - March 20th

On Tuesday, March 20th at 7pm in the EHS auditorium we will be recognizing all of our Winter Sports teams - Boys/Girls Basketball Teams, Boys/Girls Bowling Teams, Dance team, Wrestling team, Swim team and Cheerleaders.  It is a great way to close the seasons for these sports and to recognize the athletes for their outstanding Winter seasons!

The 2018 Spring Musical - Crazy for You - will be performed in the Eastwood HS auditorium on Friday, March 16th (7:00 PM), Saturday, March 17th (7:00 PM), and Sunday, March 18th (2:00 PM). Tickets are on sale in the high school main office during school hours for the price of $10/ticket.  Hope to see you at the show!

Eastwood Band Boosters Host Quarter Frenzy

The Eastwood Band Boosters are hosting a Quarter Frenzy at the Riverview Banquet Centre in Pemberville on Sunday, February 18th at 5:00 PM.  The event flyer for this adult only event holds more information.  

NHS Spaghetti Dinner - February 16th

NHS logoThe annual NHS Spaghetti Dinner, held in the Eastwood HS cafeteria, has been rescheduled for February 16th on the same evening as the boys' basketball games vs. Lake High School. Dinner will be served between 4:30-7:00 pm. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for kids ages 5-11. Tickets may be purchased from any National Honor Society member. If interested, please see any NHS member or contact the school directly and we will have members get tickets to you.

Students Earn Membership in the 2018 OMEA Honor Bands
These students recorded auditions put them among the best 100 students in the 6-county district. The Honor Bands will perform as a part of the OMEA District 1 Honor Festival on Saturday, February 18 at the Stranahan Theatre. The MS performs at 2:30, and the HS at 7:00. Performances are free and open to the public.

Shoot for the Cure

Easpink ribbontwood HS will be teaming up with Lake HS to hold a "Shoot for the Cure" game that will be held on February 16th at Eastwood High School. Proceeds from a t-shirt sale will go to an organization to help find a cure for cancer. "Pink Out" t-shirt orders are being accepted through January 30th and an order form can be accessed here. Order forms may be returned to the main office with all purchases available for pick-up by February 14th.

Everyone is encouraged to purchase a shirt as we try to help provide funds in an ongoing effort to find a cure for cancer. Please feel free to contact Mr. Howard for further details.

EHS Music Department Holiday Performances

One of the highlights of the holiday is enjoying the wonderful music that accompanies the season. The talented instrumentalists and vocalists in our high school music program have been busier than Santa and his elves with all of their scheduled performances. Members of the ensembles have been seen all over the area with performances at locations including the Toledo Zoo Lights Festival, Pemberville Holiday Parade, and the recent Holiday Senior Citizen luncheon. With each performance, the students (and Directors) have truly showed off their amazing talents while putting everyone in the holiday spirit.

We hope you'll take some time to hear these wonderful ensembles at their upcoming holiday concerts being held at EHS on the following dates:

The team set off to Canton hearing the loud cheers from the amazing Eastwood community and sirens of the sheriff’s office and local fire/ & escue squads! Channel 13 arrived to capture the moment also. Kick off is 3:00pm.

Presale Tickets for Football and Volleyball
Football Presale Ticket Info - These will be sold Friday from 7:30 to 2:30 in the high school office and one last time right before the game from 5:30-7:00 on Friday out at the Wrestling Room by the field. Presale Tickets are $8 for Football and $9 at the gate the night of the game. There are no passes that can be accepted at the gate for this game since it is an OHSAA state playoff game. If paying with check please make it our to Eastwood Athletic Department.

Volleyball Presale Ticket Info - The volleyball team will play in the regional final on Saturday at 2pm at Lake HS.  Volleyball Presale Tickets will be on sale Friday from 7:30 to 2:30pm.  They also will be sold  5:30-7:00 on Friday out at the Wrestling Room by the field and we will also sell them at the Football game tonight.  On Saturday we will sell them from 10am to noon in the high school office.   Presale Tickets for Volleyball are $6 if bought Presale and $8 at the gate the day of the game. If paying by check please have checks made out to Eastwood Athletic Department.

Join us in Celebrating the Opening of Eastwood Elementary
We invite the community to come see how our new school blends the educational excellence and traditions of the Eastwood community with 21st century concepts of collaborative spaces, resource areas, wide hallways and interactive technologies.  

The dedication ceremony for the opening of Eastwood Elementary is 2:00pm on Sunday, August 27th in the elementary gymnasium.  All are welcome to tour the building after the ceremony.

Open Houses for elementary families are on August 28th:  6:00pm - 7:15pm for grades K-2; and, 7:00pm - 8:15pm for grades 3-5.

The Eastwood Football program will hold a camp for players entering 7th and 8th grade from July 21 - July 23. The camp will take place at Eastwood High School and the Eastwood football practice fields. The camp will run from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM each day.  See details on the registration form.

Opiate Information Night - November 1st, 7:00pm

Parents, students, and community members are invited to attend this event, November 1st at 7:00pm in the high school auditorium, that will address a very troubling and very real issue - the opiate epidemic that plagues our state.  The evening will feature information from the Governor’s Office as well as stories and a Q & A with local families who have battled opiate addiction. November 1 is the first of two evening programs that will focus on the harsh realities of this scourge. The second night will be held in March, date TBA.

Fall Play October 19-22 at the Pemberville Opera House

The cast and crew for the our fall play have been diligently placing the finishing touches on yet another wonderful production. This year's production, "Small Actors" by Stephen Gregg, will mark the directing debut of Elle Fullencamp and feature the incredible talents of our students at Eastwood High School. Ticket prices are $7.00/show and will be available for purchase 30 minutes prior to each performance at the box office.  Performances are Thursday, October 19th (7:00 PM), Saturday, October 21st (7:00 PM), andSunday, October 22nd (2:00 PM).

The Eastwood Band Boosters are selling Cash Raffle tickets for prizes of $1000, $1500, $2500 and $5000. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold. Tickets are $20 and now you are able to order tickets online -pay by check or pay online with PayPal.  You can also purchase from a band member or by contacting bandboosterseastwood@gmail.com. The drawing will be held December 11th at 7:30pm during the EHS Band Concert.

Varsity Volleyball - Congratulations on Another Amazing Season

After #3 ranked and undefeated Lady Eagles volleyball team won the Regional Semi Final against Ashland Crestview they faced Coldwater in the Regional Final.  Despite a loss in the Regional Final, the lady Eagles have every reason to hold their heads high and celebrate an extremely impressive record that spans multiple seasons.  They hold a 51-2 overall record and 29-0 in conference play.  They have 3 straight NBC Championships, 3 Sectional Championships, 2 District Championships and 1 Regional Runner Up over the past three years. The team will lose five seniors who have done a great job in their four years of varsity competition and have represented Eastwood in a very positive way - on and off the court.  They are a special group of young ladies and we thank them for their efforts.  Congratualtions, Lady Eagles!

Regional Champs! State Semi Final Game is Friday, November 24th


The Eastwood Eagle football team has made history!  They have won the Regional Championship and have advanced the OHSAA State Semi Final.Eastwood dominated Marion Pleasant 35-0 on Friday night in Lima. 

The team advances to the OHSAA State Semi Final against South Range that will be played on Friday, November 24th at 7:30pm at Strongsville High School. The winner of this game will advance to the OHSAA State Final in Division V in Ohio in Canton, Ohio.  Go Eagles!

Presale tickets for Friday's game will be sold Tuesday from 7:30am to 7:00 pm, from 8:00am to noon on Wednesday and from 7:30-12:00 noon on Friday in the high school office. Presale Tickets are $8 for Football and $10 at the gate the night of the game. All tickets will be sold in the high school office. There are no passes that can be accepted at the gate for this game since it is an OHSAA state playoff game. If paying with check please make it our to Eastwood Athletic Department.

9th annual Jump Over Cancer January 6th

jump over cancer imageEastwood and Bowling Green High School and Middle School cheerleaders are coming together to battle cancer. At halftime of the varsity boys basketball game between Eastwood and Bowling Green (held at Eastwood) on Saturday, January 6th, the varsity, junior varsity, and middle school cheerleaders from both schools will be "jumping over cancer" by seeing how many cheerleading jumps they can do in one minute. They will be asking for pledges in the amounts of 25¢, 50¢, 75¢, $1.00, or more for each jump they successfully perform. 

To supplement their donations, the cheerleaders are holding a fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings in Bowling Green on Wednesday, January 3rd from 5:00pm-9:00pm. Please help us in the fight to battle cancer - See any cheerleader to get involved!

Adult tickets are $9 each and include 1/2 chicken, a baked potato, applesauce, a roll, and drink. Children/Senior Citizens meals are $6 and include 1/4 chicken, 1/2 baked potato, applesauce, a roll, and drink. Desserts are also available at the door for $1 per serving. Football State Playoffs - Go Eagles!

Our undefeated NBC Champion Eagle Football team hosted Swanton in the first round of the OHSAA State Football Playoffs on Friday night and came away with a very impressive 48-0 win. 

The now advance to the Regional Semi Final against NBC rival Otsego. The game will be played on Friday, November 10th at 7:30pm at Lake HS. The winner of this game will advance to the Regional Final game on Friday, November 17th at 7:30pm.  Presale tickets will be sold Tuesday from noon to 3:30pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30-3:30pm and from 7:30-12:00 noon on Friday in the high school office.  If paying with check please make it to Eastwood Athletic Department.

State Championship - Here We Come!

After defeating Canfield South Range 21-7 in the state semifinal on November 24th in Strongsville, our undefeated Eagles head to Canton on Friday, December 1st, 3:00pm for the State Championship game.  School is closed on Friday for Eagle Pride Day but the STARS program is open (click here for details about STARS registration).. For information about pre-sale tickets and the Spirit Bus, refer to Mr. Riley's newsletter.

Hal and Peggy Moore Scholarship - Application Deadline March 23

The Hal and Peggy Moore Scholarship has been established to provide assistance to Eastwood High School graduates continuing their college education.  Preference will be given to full time college students at any Ohio 4 year public university and the University of Findlay in any area of study.  One upcoming college sophomore, one college junior, and one college senior will receive a $5000.00 scholarship (maximum 2 times per student).  To be considered for this scholarship, the Hal & Peggy Moore Scholarship application for College Students must be submitted  by March 23, 2018.

Summer Food Service Program

All children ages 1 through 18 are eligible to receive free meals during the summer months at participating program sites.   Visit the Food Service Program page on the Ohio Department of Education website for a list of summer feeding programs in the area.

Key Club to Help with Hurricane Relief Effort

Key Club's current activity is to help provide some much needed supplies for the recent communities/areas impacted by the Hurricanes. With this in mind, supplies are being collected between October 4th - October 13th and may be dropped off with Mr. & Mrs. Howard. There are a variety of supplies being collected (i.e. - sunscreen, baby wipes, diapers, tissues, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, paper products, garbage bags, etc.). Please see any Key Club member for specific details.

The Eastwood High School Eagle Marching Band will present their 2017 Pops Concert on Tuesday, October 24 at 7:30pm in the Eastwood HS Gym. Admission is free.

Key Club Members Deck the Halls

On Friday, November 17th, members of EHS Key Club took time to become "elves" by decorating for the holidays at Otterbein-Portage Valley Retirement Center. This annual effort is a great opportunity for our student to give back to the community as well as helping to spread the holiday cheer.

College Credit Plus - Parent Meeting on January 10th

Eastwood will be providing information about the College Credit Plus program for all students grades 7 -12 on Wednesday, Jan 10th at 7pm in the high school auditorium. Intent to Participate forms, college websites to register, and additional testing information will be addressed.  See the EHS home page for more information.

The ​6th Annual Eastwood Jazz Festival will be held Saturday, ​April 21, 2018.  Joining Eastwood High School will be Oak Harbor, Rossford and North Baltimore Jazz ​Bands and we are thrilled to have the Toledo Jazz Orchestra Quintet closing the evening.  Silent auction opens at 5:15pm with dinner beginning at 6:00pm.  Purchase tickets in the ​Eastwood High School​ office, from an Eastwood Band member, or from participating band directors by April ​9th.  Proceeds Benefit the Eastwood Band Boosters and ​participating ​bands.  See the event flyer for more details.

We have implemented the use of Infofinder- i this school year to streamline the process of finding your child's bus route and pickup times.  We encourage you to check it before school starts and often during the first few weeks of school, as adjustments will be made. Veteran Memorial Wall - Honoring Those Who Served

A Veteran Memorial Wall now prominently displays the names of Eastwood graduates who have bravely defended our country.   Located in the Eastwood High School entry hall, this magnificent wall is the result of a very special project conceived by the EHS Key Club.  View a list of veterans included on the wall and if there are any additions or corrections to be made, please email Mr. Howard at nhoward@eastwoodschools.org by the end of May 2018.

As part of the 2017 Eastwood Veterans Day program we officially shared the Veterans' Wall with our community.  The Sentinel-Tribune came out for the event and created a multimedia story about the wall.  Thank you to JD Pooley of the Sentinel-Tribune for creating this wonderful video.

56th Annual FFA Banquet - April 8th

FFA logoDinner will be served at 4:30 pm in the High School Gymnasium. An awards ceremony will follow in the High School Auditorium, which will recognize FFA members and guests for their outstanding efforts during the year. Chapter activities, scholarships, and awards will be presented along with a senior FFA member slideshow and year in review.

Cost per chicken dinner is $8.00 and  $10.00 for the steak dinner.  If you would like to attend, please complete the FFA Banquet reservation form and forward with fee per person to Mr. Swartz at the High School on or before Wednesday, March 21st

Visit to the Butterfly House

In the fall, Pemberville Student Council had a contest to see which class could collect the most milk weed pods.These pods are being planted along roads in Ohio. The class that collected the most was Kindergarten and they won a  trip to the Butterfly House in Whitehouse. Enjoy these photos that capture some of the learning and fun!


Summer Youth Basketball Camps

The Eastwood Girls Youth Basketball Camp will be held on June 13-15 from 9:30-11:30am. The camp is available for girls that will be entering 4th-7th grade. To be guaranteed a camp t-shirt please have your registration in by the June 4th deadline. Click here for the flyer.

The Boys Youth Camp is scheduled for July 24-27. More information will be posted here soon.

Ti-M Induction

Congratulations to the chapter officers and members installed at the September 24 Induction Ceremony!  The Tri-M Music Honor Society is a program of the National Association for Music Education. It is an international music honor society for secondary students that recognizes students for their academic and musical achievements, rewards them for their accomplishments and service activities, and aims to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership in their school and community.

On October 4th, students and /staff from the high school and middle school had the opportunity to hear a wonderful - and moving - presentation regarding Mental Health Awareness from Kevin Hines. The speaker, sponsored by Project AWARE and the Wood County ESC, shared his personal story that was filled with personal struggles and triumphs. His message was simple....we are all important and sincere acts of kindness and compassion are always needed to support one another - even in the darkest of times.


Eastwood International/Domestic Travel 5 Year Forecast Meeting - October 23

As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, it is critical for our students to become more culturally aware, explore new ideas and grow their potential. Students who participate in this opportunity will grow their social skills, connect to their studies outside of the classroom and set themselves apart when applying to college and their future careers.  Grades 4th ~ 12th are invited to an informational meeting  on Monday, October 23rd, 2017 in the HS Auditorium at 7:00 pm.   With that being said, a 4th grader will be a freshman in 2022.  This forecast for our global travel plan will give parents and students a realistic opportunity to plan and save for the trip they choose to go on.

EHS Student Makes All-State Choir

Congratulations to Freshman Joshua Egnatuk for being selected to participate in the 2018 Ohio Music Education Association's All State Choir. Joshua, as part of a 160 member choir, will perform at the Annual Ohio Music Education Association Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, this coming February 2018. Joshua will spend many hours preparing for the event by attending several regional rehearsals as well as final rehearsals at the conference.

Eastwood's very own Addisyn Burdette is a natural in front of the green screen!   Addy's love of science and meteorology led her to this great opportunity to team up with NBC 24 meteorologist Kimberly Newman for a live weather segment.  After spending time with Kimberly working on the forecast and practicing in front of the green screen, Addy jumped right in with a "shout out" to Eastwood friends and teachers.  View the video recording of the forecast.  Outstanding job, Addy!
