Our Journey to Build an ELITE Culture Continues

Another visit from Tim Kight had staff and students focused on R-Factor™ -- understanding the Outcomes we experience are directly tied to how we choose to Respond (the ‘R-Factor’) to the Events in our lives (E + R = O). Staff learned the importance of having a disciplined R, not a default R, while students learned the importance of seeing a goal and the path that is required to achieve that goal.   This day with Tim Kight was another step in our journey to build an ELITE school culture and pursue excellence each and every day!

Images below show high school students during their Kight talk; K-1 students serreading Kight with the fight song; and, 8th graders preparing for Tim Kight by researching how unexpected Events in the lives of famous figures prompted a Response.

Creating an Elite Culture in Eastwood Schools Beliefs Behaviors Outcomes Chart

One of our most significant endeavors as a district is to drive the development of student behavior skills that will allow them to become the best student and person possible. To accomplish this we are creating an Elite Culture in Eastwood Schools. Culture is defined by the beliefs of the organization, the behaviors those beliefs promote, and the experience the beliefs and behaviors produce for others. Our mission therefore is for everyone in the district to behave in ways that will produce elite outcomes and experiences for our educational community.  We have captured the blueprint for this effort in our Beliefs, Behaviors and Outcomes chart.

We also need a clear explanation on the intent and meaning of everything listed in our Beliefs, Behaviors, and Outcomes.  Hence we have adopted a Culture Playbook to provide consistent vocabulary that can be used throughout the district so there is alignment for staff and students.

We encourage you to take a look at both of these documents to learn about the principles & behaviors that Eastwood students and staff are embracing for 2018-2019.  We are truly excited about this endeavor and encourage our community to be a part of it!

Mark Your Calendar - Upcoming Waiver Day & 2 Hour Delays

One of the quotes used frequently by Tim and Brian Kight from Focus 3 is "Doesn’t Matter Get Better #DMGB."  Our teachers are committed to continual personal and professional growth so we have two dates in September and one in October for professional development.

  • September 13th – 2 Hour Delay
  • September 24th – NO SCHOOL – Waiver Day
  • October 3rd – 2 Hour Delay
