District – Eastwood Local Schools
Position – Director of Operations
Contract and Salary – 260-day, multi-year contract, and a competitive salary
Start Date – As soon as possible
Description:
- This position supervises performance of maintenance duties that relate to the school plant, buildings, facilities, equipment, grounds operations
- Supervise and direct employees on the maintenance staff.
- Ability to perform routine building maintenance as able including troubleshooting HVAC, plumbing. Mechanical and electrical systems.
- Assist with snow removal and ensuring district facilities are able to operate
- Maintain, supervise and implement Hazcom program
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with government agencies including but not limited to Department of Commerce, Bureau of Workers Compensation, and the EPA.
- Is part of the District Administration team.
- CDL or the ability to get a CDL is preferred

- Exhibits a basic knowledge, understanding, & application of various cooking techniques
- Experience in preparation of daily meals for multiple individuals preferred

Key Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience supervising youth preferred

- Effectively monitor the safety of students during outdoor or indoor recess
- Work collaboratively with other playground aides and all other building personnel
- Desire and ability to guide children in playing harmoniously with other children

Position: Head Custodian
Location: Eastwood High School
Work Calendar: 8.0 hours per day – First Shift – 258 days/year
Pay Rate: Step 0 - $19.42 – Step – 20 - $22.80
Key Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- At least five years related experience preferred
- Successful completion of criminal background check
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing, Pass on specific oral and/or written instructions for assignments to other custodial employees
- Effective, active listening skills
- Organizational and problem-solving skills
- Responsible for the operation, upkeep and minor troubleshooting of all mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling systems
- Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures
- Trained in the proper care and storage of chemicals. Responsible for proper chemical use and SDS record keeping. Participates in Hazard Communications reviews.
- Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels
- Knowledge of the care of materials, methods and practices essential to proper cleaning of a facility
- Knowledge of the care and proper use of sweepers, vacuum machines, mops, brushes, wax machines, cleaning fluids and other cleaning materials and equipment
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to maintain records and make reports
- Working knowledge of assigned building alarm and security systems
- Ensure safety of students, staff, visitors and volunteers.
- Provides safe, clean and comfortable environment conducive to learning
- Assist in ordering and keeping accurate inventory of all custodial equipment, materials and supplies
- Help forecast the need for new equipment and large purchases in assigned area. Assist in budgetary projections
- Maintain a schedule; Conduct periodic weekend and holiday building checks and inspections of the building
- Complete paperwork and Public School Works tasks on time and as required by supervisor
- Promote good safety practices and procedures
- Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
- Attend meetings and in-services as required
- Consults with supervisor to schedule major repairs and ensure compliance with building codes
- Ensure ADA accessibility standards are in place.
- Attend to daily flag duties and assist in building a summer maintenance work list
- Work with staff district wide to ensure proper coverage of events and activities. Help fill all vacancies
